What if you ALREADY hold the Power?

Have you ever considered how exactly where you are right now is where you are supposed to be? Recently, I’ve witnessed a few examples of this exact thing and want to share why absolutely nothing is perfect or awful. It just is.

First Case

For years, a friend had an extravagant, fantastical idea for treating her husband. Every year, something of greater importance came up, and she sadly shelved her concept every time with a ‘maybe in another year’ tearful moment. This continued for nearly twenty-five years until last year when her husband surprised her with that extravagant, fantastical idea.

They BOTH enjoyed the experience and have found every occasion to rave about it. It was always an awful situation for my girlfriend, NOT being able to spring forth the idea. For her husband, it was a perfect moment when everything came together. For me, looking at it from the outside, it was a beautiful moment. Nothing had been withheld from either. What was theirs naturally came their way. They had no control over the timing.

Second Case

Another friend of mine has been struggling with her business. Naturally, I spent years trying to show her the better ways to come to grips with much of what plagued her. Nothing I offered stuck. NOTHING. I began to second-guess myself and eventually stopped giving out new ideas because it seemed like such a losing battle. Fast forward a few years. That same friend is now telling me how brilliant my ideas are and how she is beginning to see the tides change. The ideas she is talking about are from some of our first sessions. What?????

I thought I had lost my usual golden touch and decided it was a terrible experience from which I would never return.

For her, she needed to gain a different perspective. Failures always deliver better perspectives. And while they, too, seem like awful experiences, they happen for one simple reason. So that we can all grow in the direction we need to. I needed to learn that most people do not see the world as I do. She needed to get knocked around a bit to eventually appreciate that it is always wise to trust the one who has been where she wants to go. For both of us, NOTHING had been withheld. We both got exactly what we needed when we needed it.

Third Case

Last March, I invested a whack of money for a certification I knew I needed. Unfortunately, my professional life was sidelined as I played executrix to my brother’s estate. I wish I could count the sleepless nights I spent worrying about wasting money on something I would not use. Right now, I am thrilled to be invested in that certification. Because as I put the final touches on my brother’s affairs, my professional life has blossomed. And I have been leaning into that certification more than I ever dreamt. In other words, last year, the timing wasn’t good or bad; the investment wasn’t too much or too little. It just was. And it was indeed naturally meant for me.

In Summary

These days, we all worry about a million different things. And yes, we have far more to worry about right now than at any other time. Here’s what keeps me sane. There is an old prayer or verse that goes something like this. ….. Please grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. I believe that what is meant for us will never be denied. And that we are all safe and protected in ways we may never understand.

That power resides in each one of us. So use your power wisely. Because you really are exactly where you are supposed to be.
